DR Congo: Chantal Faida on Congolese Independence

Chantal Faida  blogs ( Chantal blogs in French this was translated by Bing with other alterations by me again my apologies to Chantal if I have altered the meaning in any way. )

Congolese, that each of us say no to defeatism

Congo, 30 June 2013, our country will have had 53 years of independence. It is up to each and every one of us to make a singular and collective assessment of our emancipated status. Where have we come from, where are we now and where are we going?

We come from a settlement, we are under neocolonialism and we go to our future and freedom, this is my dream.

Some say that we are the wretched of the earth, but the time has come to reverse the situation. Our chaos is an opportunity and has been for a long time, The Congolese nation, our motherland has been a model for all other African countries that wanted change. And, especially as they had learnt from use what not to do and what led to our chaos.

Western paternalism, bad governance, ethnic wars, violence, widespread corruption, massive electoral fraud, lack of patriotism, nepotism, cronyism, injustice, unemployment exacerbated by a weak army, limited education, etc. .. In short all the flaws we are criticized for in the various reports of international organizations where we are ranked,  mostly headlined with bad statistics.

The New Congo.

53 years of independence is celebrated in defeat and not with success should arouse our sense of patriotism. That each of us in any field that is making a firm commitment and say no defeatism, no to pessimism, no to impotence.
Let us all work to the search for genuine peace throughout our country. This country does not belong to those who govern it but to us all citizens regardless of ethnicity. All those of Congolese nationality despite our origins.
We have this land the Congo. If we wait for a providential man, we imperil future generations to the failure of our time because this providential man will not come. He will not come, because he is already among us. It is each and every one of us.
