Keeping up with Alex

Art connoisseur Alex gave me a deserved pasting for trusting the New York Times so I have decided to move in on his art appreciation territory.

Ivorian artist Augustin Kassi fights for the idea that big is beautiful with his new exhibition for the International Biennial of Naive Art in Abidjan. The paintings feature large African women in striking colors and simple detail – all features of the naive school of art. Catch the full story and more pics from the exhibition here, via BBC.

" Ivory Coast artist Augustin Kassi's paintings of large African women have been showcased around the world. "

Kassi - who many compare to Colombian painter Fernando Botero - recently put on a new exhibition in Ivory Coast's main city, Abidjan.

Alex will no doubt have far greater insight than me with regard to these paintings.
