DPF at Kiwiblog is usually a man of some discretion and judgement. I noticed today that his must read blogs now include coNZervative and The Conservative .
The former by John Stringer is a welcome addition to the NZ blog role ( running from July this year and a blog I had totally missed it ) despite being some distance from me politically.
Then we get the bat shit crazy The Conservative by Terry Wallbank. I have no idea how long it has been going and that DPF views this shit as must read suggests to me that he has contracted a nasty tropical disease in his wanderings through South East Asia.
" If Romney doesn’t beat Bozo Obama, shut down the Republican Party
As Laura Ingraham says with such clarity “I’ve said this time and time again; if you can’t beat Barak Obama with this record, then shut down the party, shut it down.” She is one of the most astute people on Fox—even smarter than Bill O’Reilly—and when she says things like this, one must listen."
" Ordinary New Zealanders have witnessed democracy, their country, and their freedom of speech being stripped away from them over the past four or so decades as progressive liberals have occupied parliament, local councils, government departments, education, and the media. It has now reached the stage where people can no longer speak freely for the fear of losing their jobs or other forms of retribution. I have argued for years that political correctness is creeping communism, and that is exactly what it is; if one can’t speak freely or has his/her normal behaviour restricted then New Zealand is no better than an Orwellian, communist country.
The mere fact that the gay-marriage bill passed the first reading by 80 to 40 shows you there is now a dangerous imbalance in parliament; we no longer have a left and right wing; we only have left-wing representation."
Hamish in Auckland is a left leaning blog although I do try to remain balanced when I venture into the NZ political sphere ( something that is happens rarely as the blog has taken on an African flavour ).
Terry Wallbank is a bigoted moron who would be more comfortable in the Ugandan political environment .
How the fuck have we had freedom of speech removed ?
Wallbank's lunatic Tea Party derived ramblings might suggest to some freedom of speech should be removed but as far as I can see the only idiot advocating limiting freedom is Wallbank himself .
As for the stripping away of democracy we have in New Zealand a conservative party
The party gained 2.65% of the party vote (59,237 votes) in the election, but failed to win any electorates.
That is democracy, it is how it works Terry.
They say the past is a foreign country, please stay there Terry.

Have now, It is hard to believe that both the blog and comments could be published in NZ 2014.

ReplyDeleteI am not quite sure how the State becoming more powerful or for that matter the writing of Marx relate to my blog. Equally I am failing to make the connection between marital failures and custodial parents on a gender basis. I would however recommend you seriously think about the source you have consulted with regard to the 99.9 % figure. Hearsay evidence is not given a lot of weight in courts and " many men " seems somewhat vague.
DeleteI must confess I have never read the legislation regarding custodial parents, that said I would have thought that one would look at income from a household perspective before a split and then work out financial obligations from that perspective. The real issue is children's welfare not parents lifestyle. That said back in the real world I happen to know of a case where the courts awarded custody of a child to two men and have now approved the adoption of that child by said men.
What you fail to acknowledge in your spirited defense of men is the appalling number of us who up sticks and bugger off, usually overseas in an effort to avoid responsibility of not only financial, but any type, for our kids. I have four daughters, six nephews and nieces ranging in age from five to 20 years. I have never felt the urge to physically assault them and I totally support the anti smacking act.
The only problem I am aware of with regard to the " Glen " report ( again I have not read it ) is the removal of the presumption of innocence, that is madness.
