Brian Eno’s letter to America: WHY? I just don’t get it

Brian Eno is an artist, musical innovator, record producer for artists ranging from David Bowie to U2 and Coldplay. He has been a consistent supporter of Stop the War Coalition since it was first founded.

Dear All of You:

I sense I’m breaking an unspoken rule with this letter, but I can’t keep quiet any more.

Not quite sure what rule Eno is breaking. From the perspective of this blog I am a little off reservation insofar as I avoid Middle Eastern politics but I do not avoid issues such as genocide and there is no other description for the activities of Israel in Gaza.

Today I saw a picture of a weeping Palestinian man holding a plastic carrier bag of meat. It was his son. He’d been shredded (the hospital’s word) by an Israeli missile attack – apparently using their fab new weapon, flechette bombs. You probably know what those are – hundreds of small steel darts packed around explosive which tear the flesh off humans. The boy was Mohammed Khalaf al-Nawasra. He was 4 years old.

This act by Israel is in my opinion a crime against humanity. The most favorable interpretation possible is that it is a war crime.

A war crime is a serious violation of the laws and customs of war (also known as international humanitarian law) giving rise to individual criminal responsibility. Examples of war crimes such as:
 Murdering, mistreating, or deporting civilian residents of an occupied territory to slave labor camps
 Murdering or mistreating prisoners of war or civilian internees
 Forcing protected persons to serve in the forces of a hostile power
 Killing hostages
 Killing or punishing spies or other persons convicted of war crimes without a fair trial
 Wantonly destroying cities, towns, villages, or any object not warranted by military necessity

I suddenly found myself thinking that it could have been one of my kids in that bag, and that thought upset me more than anything has for a long time.

Then I read that the UN had said that Israel might be guilty of war crimes in Gaza, and they wanted to launch a commission into that. America won’t sign up to it.

There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that Israel is guilty of war crimes. America is aware of this and is using its influence to silence western criticism of Israel and it will use its Security Council Veto to prevent this issue being considered by the UN. America has a tradition of preventing those who have committed the worst crime possible... genocide.... facing justice. Be it the Nazi scientists saved at conclusion of WWII or the Rwandan Hutu genocidairs given carte blanche by the Americans and French to kill around a million Tutsi over the course of 3 months in 1994.   

The terrible reality of  America's behaviour is that further crimes against humanity  are then facilitated by the survivors of such atrocities due to American guilt. Be it Israel in Gaza or Rwanda in the DR Congo today.

What is going on in America? I know from my own experience how slanted your news is, and how little you get to hear about the other side of this story. But – for Christ’s sake! – it’s not that hard to find out. Why does America continue its blind support of this one-sided exercise in ethnic cleansing? WHY? I just don’t get it. I really hate to think its just the power of AIPAC… for if that’s the case, then your government really is fundamentally corrupt. No, I don’t think that’s the reason… but I have no idea what it could be.

Eno needs to cut out the bullshit. This is not ethnic cleansing it is genocide. The term " ethnic cleansing " is a manifestation of just how fucking useless the media are. With regard to the Israel lobby ( AIPAC ) and American corruption Eno has perhaps unwittingly answered that question with his observation on the American medias complicity in keeping the truth from the public, mind you the US public have bought into this deception.

The America I know and like is compassionate, broadminded, creative, eclectic, tolerant and generous. You, my close American friends, symbolise those things for me. But which America is backing this horrible one-sided colonialist war? I can’t work it out: I know you’re not the only people like you, so how come all those voices aren’t heard or registered?

The Americans I know fit Eno's description but America collectively does not. That should not come as a surprise the Americans the world meets are the minority.

According to a survey of 2,105 Americans, conducted by CouponCodes4u, 41per cent of travelers who have never been abroad feel that everything worth visiting is in the U.S.

Only 15per cent of respondents said they planned on vacationing abroad this year.

Of those who said they would remain in their own state, 22per cent admitted that they had never ventured outside its borders before. "

I don't know if the statistics include military deployments by US personnel but I suspect they do and that would exasperate the situation.

How come it isn’t your spirit that most of the world now thinks of when it hears the word ‘America’? How bad does it look when the one country which more than any other grounds its identity in notions of Liberty and Democracy then goes and puts its money exactly where its mouth isn’t and supports a ragingly racist theocracy?

If the America Eno alludes too ever existed I have no idea when it was. Ask native or black Americans about that. America isn't so far from a theocracy and the ability of the majority of Americans to look critically at Americas behaviour as an international citizen is a joke. When the Global Financial Crisis hit the world was shown pictures of Americans who had lost their homes in trailer parks with the stars and stripes flying prominently. In most of the world the flags would have been burning but not in brainwashed batshit crazy America.

I was in Israel last year with Mary. Her sister works for UNWRA in Jerusalem. Showing us round were a Palestinian – Shadi, who is her sister’s husband and a professional guide – and Oren Jacobovitch, an Israeli Jew, an ex-major from the IDF who left the service under a cloud for refusing to beat up Palestinians. Between the two of them we got to see some harrowing things – Palestinian houses hemmed in by wire mesh and boards to prevent settlers throwing shit and piss and used sanitary towels at the inhabitants; Palestinian kids on their way to school being beaten by Israeli kids with baseball bats to parental applause and laughter; a whole village evicted and living in caves while three settler families moved onto their land; an Israeli settlement on top of a hill diverting its sewage directly down onto Palestinian farmland below; The Wall; the checkpoints… and all the endless daily humiliations. I kept thinking, “Do Americans really condone this? Do they really think this is OK? Or do they just not know about it?”.

They don't know, they don't want to known and worse they don't care that they don't know. That will however change.

As for the Peace Process: Israel wants the Process but not the Peace. While ‘the process’ is going on the settlers continue grabbing land and building their settlements… and then when the Palestinians finally erupt with their pathetic fireworks they get hammered and shredded with state-of-the-art missiles and depleted uranium shells because Israel ‘has a right to defend itself’ ( whereas Palestine clearly doesn’t). And the settler militias are always happy to lend a fist or rip up someone’s olive grove while the army looks the other way.

That is a very astute observation.  The process is useful from an Israeli perspective, it has destroyed any possibility of a two state solution. Just in case you are unaware of the scale of this theft be prepared to be shocked.

Remember that the map is now 14 years out of date. And the reason ?

" The two-state solution refers to a solution of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict currently under discussion, which calls for "two states for two peoples." The two-state solution envisages an independent State of Palestine alongside the State of Israel, west of the Jordan River.

The framework of the solution is set out in UN resolutions on the "Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine", going back to 1974. The resolution calls for "two States, Israel and Palestine ... side by side within secure and recognized borders" together with "a just resolution of the refugee question in conformity with UN resolution 194". The borders of the state of Palestine are "based on the pre-1967 borders". The latest resolution in November 2013 was passed 165 to 6, with 6 abstentions. The countries voting against were Canada, Israel, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Palau and the United States.

The Palestinians have "shown serious interest" in a two-state solution since the mid-1970s, and its mainstream leadership has embraced the concept since the 1982 Arab Summit in Fez.

Over the years, polls have consistently shown "respectable Israeli and Palestinian majorities in favor of a negotiated two-state settlement."

It will not happen. As Eno points out above " a whole village evicted and living in caves while three settler families moved onto their land "

By the way, most of them are not ethnic Israelis – they’re ‘right of return’ Jews from Russia and Ukraine and Moravia and South Africa and Brooklyn who came to Israel recently with the notion that they had an inviolable (God-given!) right to the land, and that ‘Arab’ equates with ‘vermin’ – straightforward old-school racism delivered with the same arrogant, shameless swagger that the good ole boys of Louisiana used to affect. That is the culture our taxes are defending. It’s like sending money to the Klan.

Regular readers of this blog will be aware that my partner's sister and three of my four daughters arrived in New Zealand in March this year. Much to my annoyance they had to go through the six week residential orientation programme required by immigration NZ for refugees ( I was totally wrong to oppose this and Immigration NZ were right to insist on it ). I met a family who arrived at the same time from Syria ( mum was fluent in English, actually an English teacher ) while my family were on the course. The family were Palestinians who had been evicted by Israel and tried their luck in Baghdad, America wrecked that relocation, so they tried Syria. We all know what is happening there ( unless of course we are Americans ). Dad is business man he had owned retail operations, he had employed people he wants to be a productive participant here. He belongs to us now and he will I am sure for the forth time in his life set up a business and contribute to the NZ community. 

Israel and America think of him as vermin:

Israel are far worse than vermin they raid and infest.

As for giving the Klan  Israel tax money Eno is correct the only difference being that the Klan saw a value in property and didn't always kill. 

But beyond this, what really troubles me is the bigger picture. Like it or not, in the eyes of most of the world, America represents ‘The West’. So it is The West  that is seen as supporting this war, despite all our high-handed talk about morality and democracy. I fear that all the civilisational achievements of The Enlightenment and Western Culture are being discredited – to the great glee of the mad Mullahs – by this flagrant hypocrisy. The war has no moral justification that I can see  - but it doesn’t even have any pragmatic value either. It doesn’t make Kissingerian ‘Realpolitik’ sense; it just makes us look bad.

Actually I disagree. New Zealand under previous administrations has disassociated its self from the " West " I am sure we will again. The West needs to disassociate from America. If America wishes to remain a nation caught in the amber of the 20th century so be it. Empires fall when they become irrelevant, ask Britain.

I’m sorry to burden you all with this. I know you’re busy and in varying degrees allergic to politics, but this is beyond politics. It’s us squandering the civilisational capital that we’ve built over generations. None of the questions in this letter are rhetorical: I really don’t get it and I wish that I did.

I get it Brian. I am just far more objective than you.

All Africa blogs and the progressive Americans who have not thought.

The All Africa blog platform is back, as a ( initially involuntary ) contributor to the site I am pleased to see it back. Think Progress is a contributing blog and today I couldn't help but spot this post.

"If You Support The Death Penalty, You Are Probably White"

Well I am white and don't support the death penalty although there have been times and will be again I am sure that as a watcher of the DR Congo and neighbouring countries I have and will again want the death penalty used. A great friend of mine Ross Blanch has actually felt the need to tell me to pull my head in on this subject. He was of course correct, he usually is. 

A new Pew Research Study reveals that the percentage of Americans who support the death penalty declined from 62 percent in 2011 to 55 percent in 2013 — and that support for executions is driven largely by white people. According to the survey, 63 percent of America’s white population support capital punishment, whereas only 36 percent of black people and 40 percent of Hispanics do.

I suspect and I have no evidence to back this up, that these figures would alter massively in the other direction if the study was done globally rather than just in America. Western European states and the Anglo Saxon derived states such as New Zealand don't want capital punishment. The headline for this blog probably should read more along the lines of:  " If you are white and don't support capital punishment you probably are in the majority unless you live in the USA "

This racial disparity is unsurprising in light of the way death sentences are often dolled out in this country. Florida, for instance, has never executed a white person for killing a black person. Defendants are 97 percent more likely to receive the death penalty if the victim in question was white, and Alabama follows a similar trend: African Americans are six times more likely to be sentenced to die for murdering white people with college degrees than white people who kill blacks. All told, 32 of the 39 executions that occurred last year were cases in which a white person was victimized.

I have no doubt that the USA is totally screwed. The domestic citizens of Lego Land never fail to astonish me and always for the wrong reasons. However could anyone explain to me the relevance of college degrees ?  

I am totally in favour of college degrees, I think every one should be allowed the opportunity to get them ... but that statistic has made me wonder,  perhaps in the interests of fairness we should stop white Americans being allowed to matriculate. 

OK I am taking the piss but the author of this blog is also doing so. lets face it, this could be read as an instruction to black people planning to kill white people to select their victim carefully and make sure they don't have a college degree. 

Batshit crazy ? Yup. 

South Africa: Melissa Bachman - Another reason why the world hates Americans.

WASHINGTON - A blue-eyed American hunter with her own specialty TV show found herself Wednesday in the crosshairs of animal lovers outraged by her safari exploits in South Africa.

More than 375,000 people signed an online petition on Change.org calling on the South African government to no longer let Melissa Bachman, host of "Winchester Deadly Passion," into the country.

I really wish people like Melissa Bachman would stay in the USA. I guess on the most part they probably do, but anyone who deliberately kills a critically endangered species is a fucking idiot. I have absolutely no doubt Bachman fits this criteria.

"Melissa Bachman has made a career out of hunting wildlife, for pure sport," read the petition launched by Cape Town resident Elan Burman.

I am in no way anti hunting and have killed my share of fish, rabbits, possums etc. If you are going to kill you should have a good reason and a trophy just doesn't make the good reason standard regardless of the species and its conservation status.   

"She is an absolute contradiction to the culture of conservation (that) this country prides itself on," it said.

In a statement, Change.org said it was the biggest animal-related petition it had ever hosted, gathering 150,000 new signatures since Monday.

I don't doubt it. Bachman is an environmental menace.    

A "Stop Melissa Bachman" page on Facebook meanwhile racked up more than 230,000 likes -- almost nine times the number of followers of Bachman's own Facebook account.

Triggering the outrage was a photo that Bachman posted on social media on November 1 of her kneeling and smiling, rifle in hand, behind a lion she had apparently just shot and killed.

"An incredible day hunting in South Africa! Stalked inside 60-yards on this beautiful male lion...what a hunt!" she wrote on her @MelissaBachman Twitter account.

"...beautiful male lion..."  that is now dead. The bitch is fucking mad.  The Guardian reports,

"The UK-based conservation group LionAid says as few as 645 lions remain in the wild in western and central Africa. It says lions are extinct in 25 African nations and virtually extinct in 10, and it estimates that 15,000 wild lions remain on the continent as a whole, compared with about 200,000 30 years ago.

"There has been a catastrophic decline in the populations of lions in Africa, and particularly west Africa," said Dr Pieter Kat, trustee of LionAid. "These lions have been neglected for a very long time and do not have adequate protection programs. They are in real danger of extinction."

The Minnesota native, who shoots with both firearms and bows and grew up in a family that went hunting every weekend, wrote on her Facebook account that she had earlier bagged "a beautiful Nyala and a Duiker" -- two species of antelopes.

The Maroi Conservancy defended her on social media, saying it would not apologize for facilitating her lion shoot in South Africa's North West Province.

Sponsored by Winchester, a major American firearms manufacturer, Bachman's show is carried on the Pursuit Channel, a relatively small Alabama-based channel dedicated to outdoor activites such as hunting.

The American gun culture insanity is something I really wish America wouldn't attempt to export. Make no mistake this lion died to sell Americans guns so they can kill each other. That is a bloody awful reason to die.

" The annual toll from firearms in the US is running at 32,000 deaths and climbing, even though the general crime rate is on a downward path (it is 40% lower than in 1980). If this perennial slaughter doesn't qualify for intercession by the UN and all relevant NGOs, it is hard to know what does."

"The more people that can hunt, the more people that can enjoy the lifestyle, the better," she said in October in a report on Minnesota TV station KSTP about the state's growing number of licensed female hunters.

Last year the US Fish and Wildlife Service, a federal agency, released a survey indicating a rebound in the popularity of hunting in the United States after many years of decline.

I really hope that something very horrible happens to Bachman. Soon.

DR Congo: The arseholes of America

Did whistle-selling hipsters in California end a war in eastern Congo?

NAIROBI, Kenya — Soon after the end of the M23 rebellion that threw parts of eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) into conflict for much of the last two years, a blog post titled "We Stopped M23" appeared on the website of a California-based nonprofit called Falling Whistles.

Just incase you needed reminding there are some people who really deserve a bullet. I think Monique Beadle is one of the more deserving candidates I have heard of in a while.

The slick homepage describes the organization as “a campaign for peace in Congo." It urges visitors to “be a whistleblower for peace” by purchasing stylish metal whistles, hung on a chain or black cord, from the organization's online store.

These thieves should join M23. That said I am not sure who would benefit most from such an association.

You've got options: A brushed copper whistle will set you back $58. The cheapest is $38, while the clearly popular "Gunmetal" whistle, currently out of stock, costs $48. Part of the profit from the whistle sales supports grassroots work in Congo.

I think it would be fair to say that is a lie.  What grassroots work ? Not one organisation is named as a beneficiary of these arseholes.

The group's latest advocacy project is #StopM23, which has encouraged supporters to use Twitter and Facebook to demand that the United Nations and the White House end violence in the DRC.

Let me rewrite that.

The groups latest fraudulent enterprise is conning stupid people into parting with money and then announcing to the world via Facebook and Twitter just how stupid they are by demanding that the UN and the White House end violence in the DRC caused by M23 a armed group that is to all effective purposes extinct. 

Falling Whistles is a product of the online activism zeitgeist that has produced countless click-your-support petitions like — most famously — last year’s Kony 2012 campaign. 

But does any of it actually work?

We are talking Americans, there is no nation on earth that has managed to produce any where near the amount of stupid people per capita than America. The Tea Party. I rest my case.

Ugandan Joseph Kony, leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), is still at large, still kidnapping children and still terrorizing villagers more than a year after Invisible Children’s #Kony2012 campaign and video became an internet phenomenon.

Last week the online activist group Avaaz ran a petition in Kenya under the banner #JusticeForLiz, seeking the arrest and prosecution of a gang of brutal rapists whose official punishment — they were made to spend a morning cutting grass — sparked widespread outrage.

Despite nearly 1.4 million petition signatures, however, Kenya's chief of police has dampened hopes of justice being done.

In the case of #StopM23, the question is not whether the rebellion has ended. It's whether Falling Whistles really played much of a part.

Much of a part? They played no fucking part whatsoever. 

Most analysts agree that a series of UN reports detailing Rwanda’s connections with M23, combined with the humanitarian crisis triggered by the fighting and last November’s rebel takeover of the DRC city of Goma, are what drove the actions.

I haven't a clue what actions they are talking about. Fraudulent whistle selling or the defeat of M23? Take your choice.

But Falling Whistles argued that “what was needed to tip the scales was a large public outcry.

Something which demonstrably has not happened as result of these fraudulent arseholes there are how ever some groups who are genuinely attempting to raise public awareness in the west, that these wankers are attempting to hijack that effort for personal profit is sickening.

“Less than a year since we joined together to #StopM23, the rebel group has been defeated,” the company said last weekend as rebels fled an unusually effective assault by the Congolese army backed by UN peacekeepers.

Something that has cost sacrifices by many brave people including in some cases the ultimate sacrifice and not one of them from California.

Falling Whistles claimed its campaign, which involved “bombarding the US ambassador to the UN with thousands of tweets,” had “worked” by pushing Washington to suspend some aid to Rwanda, the country widely accused of backing the M23 rebellion.

As evidence of the role they played, the organization noted that the hashtag #StopM23 “trended on Twitter in the United States over the course of 24 hours."

I think I am about to vomit.

The reaction from many who know the region — and its conflicts — was as fast as it was scathing.

“The narcissism of this reaches a wholly new level, even for US clicktivism,” one long-standing Africa correspondent wrote on his Twitter feed.

Another correspondent, who lived in the capital Kinshasa until recently, tweeted a link to the blog post with the comment, “Errr, WT very F??”

Yes. The exploitation of the DR Congo continues. 

The nonprofit appeared to claim credit for a string of developments that made the M23’s defeat possible: President Barack Obama’s decision to appoint a special envoy to the region, the UN Security Council’s decision to deploy a new, more aggressive UN brigade, and the implementation of much-needed reforms to Congo’s abysmal army.

None of which had even the slightest thing to do with these pricks. Obama's envoy has proven himself to be an idiot so I guess that there is a coincidental American  duality.  

Three days after posting the blog, Falling Whistles seemed to realize the hubristic tone of its celebratory post had not gone down well.

“Here’s what Falling Whistles meant when it said ‘We Stopped M23,'” advocacy director Monique Beadle began.

She went on to list a series of clarifications, particularly about who Falling Whistles understands “we” to be. Many actors — Congo’s army, UN peacekeepers, the US State Department, and refugees, journalists, donors — along with “Whistler Society leaders” and supporters in countries around the world "united to Stop M23," Beadle wrote.

Shoot the fucking bitch and put us out of her misery.

In emailed responses to GlobalPost, Sean Carasso, the 31-year-old who founded Falling Whistles after traveling to the DRC in late 2007, stood by the claim that the campaign, as part of a coalition of advocacy organizations pressuring the US government to act, contributed to the end of the M23.

“The Envoy, the aid cuts, and the public pressure on Rwanda were all important aspects to the events of the last few weeks,” said Carasso, referring to M23’s rapid military losses. “Those were things we promoted in public and in private, and we’re relieved to see that they contributed to the downfall of M23.”

Carasso acknowledged the limitations of tweeting-for-change, but said he believes strongly in its power.

What a wanker.

He pointed out that around 18 percent of the money raised from over 80,000 whistle sales has gone to local activists and organizations in eastern Congo.

Yet not a single activist or organisation is listed. This is called crime, there is very little difference in a moral sense between what M23 did and what these arseholes are doing it is just a matter of degree.

“Look, I know as well as anyone else that 140 characters from a single person isn’t going to change anything immediately,” he said.

“But thousands (or millions) of people saying the same thing, in unison, in a single week? That’s powerful.”

Go fuck yourself.

Rwanda: America acts and one has to ask why they bothered ?

Kagame slams US sanctions over child soldiers

KIGALI - Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Friday angrily condemned a US decision to impose sanctions against his country for allegedly backing rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo who recruit child soldiers.

Kagame said the decision would only play into the hands of other rebels made up of remnants of Hutu extremists who carried out the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

It won't, the Hutu extremists he refers to are the FDLR and they will shortly have more than enough on their plate as the MONUSCO Intervention (African) Brigade along with the Congolese Army ( FARDC ) turns their attention not to mention guns in the FDLR direction. 

"It benefits those enemies of our country who seek to destroy what we are trying to build," Kagame said in a speech to parliament.

Kagame is to a large degree reaping the consequences of his own stupidity, his obvious support for M23 along with the constant lies denying that support pissed off the international community to a point that America could no longer do business with Rwanda. Kigame might do well to reflect upon the fact that it has been quite some time since Bill Clinton ran the White House.

The United Nations accuses Rwanda of backing the M23 rebels in neighbouring eastern DR Congo, a charge the country has adamantly denied.

The evidence of Rwandan support for M23 is overwhelming and Kagame's denials have been such obvious lies that his administration junta now faces the problem that the world has stopped listening to Rwanda. Yesterday Goma blogger and journalist Charly Kasereka provided more from the hills where the M23 movement failed and collapsed after being defeated by FARDC.

On Thursday, Washington said it was invoking the 2008 Child Soldiers Protection Act to end US financial and military assistance to Rwanda.

As usual America has fucked it up. This blog has predicted the defeat of M23 for weeks and it became apparent late last month that M23 was finished, that America has imposed comprehensive sanctions on Rwanda for supporting M23 after M23 has been defeated speaks volumes for American policy towards the region. Generally speaking sanctions are applied to alter behaviour rather than as a punishment and by this test the American action is now pointless.      

But Kagame said the sanctions "benefit the people that throw grenades here in Kigali and killed our children", referring to recent attacks in the capital carried out in the run-up to parliamentary elections last month.

" One of the suspects who manned the recent grenade attack at Nyabugogo Taxi Park in Kigali, has said that he and his colleagues were sent on a mission by their boss, Colonel Enoch Bizimana alias ‘Matovu’ who commands a section of FDLR rebel in the DR Congo.

The 23 year old suspect, identified as Jean de Dieu Ntakirutimana, who left Rwanda at the age of 4 years, says that he joined and deserted FDLR forces and was later on contacted by the Colonel, through a third party, to conduct the attacks for a price.

“The rebel commanders assured that if we continue throwing the grenades in Kigali, just like others had done, we will be rewarded heavily once the rebels take power.. They actually assured us that the Kigali government will be overthrown this year” Ntakirutimana narrated to the media.

Ntakirutimana also pleaded guilty of the Nyabogogo grenade attacks and said he was not forced to do it but was paid 20 US dollars to do the job. “That money is a lot if you are a rebel in Congo” he noted."

A stupid mixed up kid, how he will benefit from the American sanctions is beyond me.

"They don't care about our children," he said, lashing out at "those murderers who live in the DRC (and) in South Africa" -- a reference to exiled Hutu extremists linked to the 1994 genocide as well as other opponents.

The truth is the FDLR don't care about anything other than killing, the mission that Ntakirutimana was sent on is evidence that Colonel Enoch Bizimana couldn't give a toss about him. 

The M23 rebel group was founded by former Tutsi rebels who were incorporated into the Congolese army under a 2009 peace deal but who turned their guns on their former comrades in 2012.

Kagame's government, also dominated by Tutsis, is accused of backing the rebels as part of a proxy war against Hutu rebels in the DRC and to seek influence in the country's mineral-rich eastern Kivu region.

Kagame repeated denials of covert support for the M23, and described the sanctions as an "insult".

"I don't understand why Rwanda is treated... with such injustice," he said. "Rwanda is going to be judged and held accountable for the mistakes made by others."

Rwanda is being held accountable for mistakes deliberate acts of insurrection in the DR Congo that have displaced and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people. The lies of Kagame have caught up with him and his murderous regime. Will the American sanctions make a blind bit of difference ? Probably not, they may in fact cause further intransigence on the part of Kagame the irony being that the sanctions have been imposed after Kagame and by extension Rwanda exercised a degree of constraint in the final days of the M23 rebellion.

The inescapable imperative for responsible members of the world community of nations to jointly check France’s and the UN’s erratic behavior and recurrent penchant for criminality in D.R. Congo and Rwanda.

The UN and France's criminality ? Can you explain the mass graves ? Talk about hypocrisy. 

" In Kibumba, the army discovered two mass graves, North Kivu Governor Julien Paluku told AP. The army has been ordered not to touch the graves so that they can be investigated by the government and the United Nations peacekeeping mission to Congo."

Excellencies:

On behalf of Rufari International, I have the honor to recall to your diligent attention that the UN mission known and referred to as MONUC/MONUSCO, spanning 14 years as of now, has been a bogus force of 20 000 officers and men astutely wreaking havoc in D R Congo and Rwanda. Raping young girls in what very much looks like sex tourism enjoyed by officers and men splashing a lot of cheaply earned money. Which money is international taxpayers’ money including Congo’s and Rwanda’s hard earned foreign exchange: that is one. Two: trading Congolese mineral resources is common practice. Three and worst of all: fabricating and broadcasting terribly abrasive criminal allegations leveled against the Rwandan government to disrupt relations between the governments and peoples of Rwanda and Congo.

Point 1) That is a revolting allegation. Just this week we were reminded of the price that we the world require of the men and women serving in the UN forces and MONUSCO specifically.

" According to the statement, the attacks occurred as the UN Organization Stabilization Mission (MONUSCO) supported action being carried out by Congolese Government Forces (FARDC) to protect civilians on the Kiwanja-Rutshuru axis, 25 kilometres north of Goma, which the main city in the vast country's eastern region.

“The Secretary-General offers his sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the victim, and to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania,” the statement says."

Point 2) Trading in Congolese minerals without a licence issued by the Kinshasa authorities is illegal, I have no doubt M23 would use the same justification to rationalise the rapes they have committed in the DR Congo.

Point 3) The evidence against Rwanda is comprehensive, well documented and for the record how on earth is it " worst of all " ? Rwanda is a nation run by a administration that has lied for so long it has forgotten how to tell the truth.

World leaders and strategists must seriously take note that the glaringly heinous and outrageously criminal fact of the so-called recurrent leaks of UN reports leveling baseless accusations at the Government of Rwanda every now and again, in a crystal-clear bid to antagonize Rwanda and D R Congo, has now become an intolerable mass destruction and political destabilization lever.

Despite this being in English I will translate. Rwanda has been caught lying, caught destabilising the DR Congo. Nobody believes a word Rwanda says including their close ally the US so much so the US has cancelled military contributions to the junta in Kigali.

The UN has so often been erratic in its pursuit of its mission to ensure peace and security in the world, causing massive death and desolation across the world in general, in Rwanda and DR Congo in particular. The Carlsson Report published a decade ago clearly indicated the criminal role the UN played in the staging and the commission of genocide in Rwanda in 1994. Had the UN duly assumed full responsibility, said genocide of Rwandan Tutsi folks would never had had a chance to erupt and wipe off a million Rwandan folks.

There is no doubt the UN has made mistakes, so much so it was determined not to make yet another in the Congo, the great tragedy of this is the Rwanda has learned nothing from the genocide, " Those who will not learn from history are destined to repeat it ", as the saying goes, thus it has been in the DR Congo and it is Rwanda who are responsible.

It is now high time to have the UN inveterate penchant for complacent criminality checked. The UN has most decidedly become an abiding mortal danger for the peoples of Rwanda and Congo and for global humanity at large. The realm of dangerous absurdity in international laws’ execution based on treacherous international politicking, pervasive and complacent criminal negligence alongside the sacrosanct impunity of the UN must end.

If anyone can figure out what that rant is about feel free to leave a translation in the comments, I think the guy is off his rocker.

Looking at the UN security council’s recent prescript for the UN belligerence in eastern d r Congo, against one party to a civil war, the March 23 Movement (M23), it is glaringly clear that the very essence of international law is being purposely disrupted, and norms of international relations perverted, to suit hidden agenda of France and some other treacherous members of the faceless and inattentive international community.

It takes a lot for a Kiwi to feel sorry for France but I must say I am starting to think they are getting an unjustifiably hard time. Let us remember the Intervention Brigade concept grew out of a meeting of the ICGLR ( International Conference Great Lakes Region ) and was put forward by Rwanda and Uganda under the Africa Brigade monicker. The ICGLR loved the idea and then decided that the Brigade would be more effective as part of MONUSCO much to Rwanda's horror, how fucking ironic is that. Rwanda was given enough rope and promptly hung themselves.    

 " A neutral international force will be set up to hunt down armed groups in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), regional leaders agreed yesterday.

The Heads of State and Government summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) held in Kampala from August 7-8 established a subcommittee composed of defence ministers from seven member states tasked to provide details on the operationalization of the force.

The subcommittee was mandated to propose “urgent actionable steps to ensure that fighting stops completely to allow for consolidation of peace, security and stability,” reads part of a statement issued at the end of the two-day summit."

This is from the ICGLR meeting as reported in New Times Rwanda. Did the fool who wrote this shit forget ? Rwanda can't even tell the truth about it's own role in this, mind you own goals are often embarrassing, I wonder who will get shot for this miscalculation ? 

The Congolese M23 Rebellion was lured into pulling out of Goma in November 2012 by the ICGLR, a section of the international community. They were in return offered by the UN and the international community to engage peace talks with the Kabila government in Kampala. 

While the peace talks were underway, international political and diplomatic circles started referring to M23 as a terrorist group, a negative force at par with the FDLR. International conspiracies started twisting international law, using the UN machinery, to thwart the M23 and the Kampala negotiations. They eventually came up with something that is unprecedented in the history of modern international law, namely the violation of the principle of neutrality of the United Nations Organization. The UN was granted permission to militarily engage the M23 Rebellion, while the M23 delegation was negotiating with the Congolese government. This was a major set back that has entailed untold suffering, desolation and death for thousands of eastern Congolese families, alongside gross violations of human rights.

The fools can't see their own hand in their own destruction. It would be funny if the price in ruined lives, deaths, rapes wasn't so high but even one rape one death is a price that the Congo should never have had to pay for Rwandan adventurism, Rwandan genocide and Kagame's delusions.  

On different occasions, through the last three decades, serious proposals/resolutions (unexecuted to date) were tabled and examined in high political and diplomatic forums, as to overhauling and reshaping the UN structures, extending UN Security Council permanent seats to yet another few countries, Germany, Japan, Nigeria? Egypt? South Africa?, to top up the existing ones so as to balance chances to enhance global peace and security endeavors.

Next he will be demanding that Rwanda ( who currently have an African seat on the UN Security Council ) be granted permanent membership. That a bunch of criminals like M23 dare to talk about global peace should have the ICC issuing indictments.

We therefore reckon that responsible leaders of the world concert of nations must together engage in tracking the sum of wrongdoings (omissions and commissions) of France and the UNO in the African great lakes region through decades: ONUC/MINUAR/MONUC/MONUSCO with a due sense of legal scrutiny and political wholesomeness. This must be understood as inescapable imperative.
